I found my first horseshoe in the apple orchard. This is a different kind of horseshoe as it is a full oval instead of the normal “horse-shoe” shape.
From what I gather this could have been used by a horse that had a hoof problem, a medical condition such as laminitis, or specifically for certain road conditions.
One big problem I see with this type of horseshoe is that it would be very difficult to get a ringer. It is probably better to just toss the normal shaped horseshoes.
